
On Father’s Day, June 18, 2017, Carl James Denis went to be with his Heavenly Father. He was 80. Born March 15, 1937, in Tupper Lake, NY, the son of Homer and Claire (LaGrave) Denis.
After graduating Tupper Lake High School and serving in the US Air Force, Carl worked in the Construction business with his father, grandfather, and older brother. After moving to Tampa, FL in the late 1950s, he went to school to train as a millwright, working all over the US and beyond.
Carl is survived by his wife of 34 years, Shirley; his children, James L (Vicki) Hensley, Kevin D (Lisa) Hensley, Dale (Elizabeth) Denis, Beth Ann (David) Adams, and Charlene Harris; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren; and his sisters, Charleen Lorenz, Carol Pilon, Elaine Schirtzer, Jeanmarie Dural and Debra West. He was proceeded in death by his parents; brother, Roger and sister, Annie Denis.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Plainfield Christian Church, 800 Dan Jones Road, Plainfield. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Carl will be laid to rest with military honors at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org/donate).
